Shawn Butzin is an award-winning folk songwriter based out of Traverse City, MI. After his father passed away, Shawn returned home from Colorado to Michigan. In that first year back, he spent many days hiking and foraging Northern Michigan's trails and campsites. This is when Shawn decided to put pen to paper to help with his mourning. Shawn realized he had an entire album's worth of material from these excursions, and this is where Butzin's debut solo album, Northern Trails, originated.

According to the Detroit Free Press, "Butzin will be sure to captivate you immediately with his mid-range vocals, which is the sweet spot." Winner of Nashville's 'Ear to the Ground' songwriter contest, Shawn has been featured in Relix Magazine, on numerous folk, Americana blogs, and on several college radio stations. Shawn released his debut solo album titled Northern Trails in summer of 2017 and shortly thereafter followed it up with an ep titled Adventures in May of 2018. Butzin just released a new single, Indigo Sky, and will follow it up with a single per month starting September 2020 until February 2021. Roots journal No Depression says, "Tom Petty fans now have a new artist to love." If you're looking for some folk music with a blend of country, Butzin will be sure to deliver nicely.
